Pete Mardo, whose birth name was Peter Guckeyson, was a clown with several different circuses including the Ringling Bros. Circus (1912-1914) and the combined shows (1926-1927), the Sparks Circus (1922-1925), and the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus (1929). The collection consists of 4 scrapbooks documenting primarily the Ringling Bros. Circus and the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Combined Shows.

Born in Columbus, Kansas in 1891, Merle Evans joined the S.W. Brundage Carnival Band as a cornetist at the age of fifteen. For the next ten years, he traveled throughout the United States with a number of theater and comedy shows, eventually becoming bandmaster with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.
